Molmall Ceases Operations of Chemical Samples Collection

Molmall moved under the umbrella of the MDPI Sustainability Foundation in 2022. It has fully ceased its operations in 2024.

This amazing project began back in the 90s through the strong belief that compounds developed for various purposes by chemists and researchers around the world, were worthwhile collecting, preserving and sharing. Guided by this vision, Dr. Shu-Kun Lin lay the ground for sustainability of chemical compounds and set up the MDPI Chemical Samples Collection, that is today part of the MDPI Sustainability Foundation and whose original mission was to collect and preserve molecular and biomolecular samples.

One of the main aims was to promote the Samples Collection worldwide through different activities, thus increasing the number of compounds while contributing to the samples exchange. A significant part of the operational revenue of the Molmall platform has thus been reinvested in the MDPI Sustainability Foundation.

The MDPI Sustainability Foundation, which is in charge of Molmall and the molmall.net platform for compounds database maintenance and development, marketing and compound processing, has decided to permanently and completely cease its operational activities for the MDPI Chemical Samples Collection.
